Civil Services examination is one of the most prestigious examination of India. It is Conducted by UPSC. This examination is conducted in three stages
- Prelims
- Mains
- Interview
Prelims
There will be two objective examination conducted in prelims examination.
- General studies Paper I
- General studies Paper II (CSAT)
Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) will comprise of Basic Mathematics, Basic Aptitude, and Comprehension type of questions. A candidate has to qualify CSAT in order to qualify prelims examination. Once qualifying marks are secured then on the basis of score of general studies paper Candidate will qualify for Mains. Less than one percentage of total applied candidate will be selected for mains examination. Marks of preliminary examination will not be added in final merit list.
Mains
A candidate has to appear in total nine papers in mains examination. Each paper will be of 250 marks. A Candidate must qualify in two language papers for evaluation of General studies Papers. Candidate has to appear in four general studies Papers, One essay paper, and two optional paper of her/ his choice in mains examination apart from two language papers. A candidate will be evaluated out of 1750 marks in mains examination. And less than 0.01 percentage of total applied candidate will be selected for personality test.
Interview
Personality test in Civil services will be conducted for each candidate individually. This test will be for 275 marks. Marks obtained will be added to final merit list. This is the final process in selection for CSE by UPSC. And on the basis of ranks and preferences by candidates, services will be allocated to candidates.
